A few months ago my son joined the US military, and, as frum parents, we find ourselves very much alone.
(the loneliness doesn’t only stem from the fact that most other kids don’t go this rout, but also from complete lack of any knowledge and familiarity of what to expect).
Yet, I’m sure we’re not the only ones.
Any leads to a support group will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for raising a son who feels such pride and gratitude to our country that it compelled him to raise his right hand and serve. I can imagine the loneliness you feel especially due to the reasons you mentioned. If you’d like, feel free to contact me and I’ll do what I can to support you. Additionally, there are ways to increase the support for your son as well. All the best and may Hashem strengthen all of you as you embark on this extraordinary journey.
Very Respectfully and Abundant Bracha,
First of all, I’d like to thank you for reaching out; and much appreciation for your kind words.
Second of all, I’d like to apologize for taking almost a year to respond…
It’s been a tough ride, and our son is back home now due to an injury that he received during training (he was medically discharged). The ride is still tough, and both his body and his neshama need a refuah sheleima, for which we daven every day.
